Detailed Schedule

Wednesday, June 19

12:00pm – 5:00pm

Airport Greeting, Check in at University of Hawaii

We anticipate this day all year long! Cheerleaders arrive in Honolulu and are greeted by our CheerHawaii personnel right at the baggage claim. They’ll help you get your bags and show you to our van or bus to be taken to the University of Hawai’i.

After checking in at the dorms, you’ll have free time to get settled in, meet your roommates, and meet the other campers. Dinner will be at the Hale Aloha Cafeteria near the dorms. We know you’ll be tired and maybe a bit shy, but reach out to others around you—you’re all in the same boat. We’ll be here the whole week together!

On the plane: We suggest you bring snacks with you on the plane. Most airlines do not serve food onboard for free; however, there are meals/snacks to purchase using a credit card. Also, depending on your arrival time, you may be hungry after arriving to camp. Having a few extra snacks for this time is a good idea. The camp store may not be open quite yet.

Are you traveling with your parents or friends? They can either bring you to the airport for the same routine, or bring you straight to the dorms. We’ll also have an optional parent meeting at 6pm at the dorms they may attend.

  7:00pm – 9:00pm

Welcome Activities at Dormitory, Team Building Activities

You and your CHUSA team will play fun games to get your heart pumping and ready for the rest of the week!

Thursday, June 20

  8:00am – 11:00am

Workouts at UH Facilities

You’ll officially be with your team from now on. Your CheerHawaii team consists of student-athletes from around the country. Meet the collegiate head coaches and their assistants as you rotate between cheer, dance, and stunt instruction.

12:00pm –  5:00pm

Canoe Paddling at Kailua Beach

We’re sure the workouts were great, but it’s time to play at one of the most recognized beaches in Hawaii! Kailua Beach Park is the place to be on a sunny afternoon. We’re teaming up with the Kailua Canoe Club to paddle outrigger canoes! Paddling, tanning, swimming, snacking, and even some stunting make for an amazing first full day in Hawaii.

  7:00pm –  9:00pm

Ice Cream Social, T-Shirt Swap, Posters

Bond with your teammates as you create a poster for your CheerHawaii team, swap T-shirts from your high schools, enjoy ice cream, and dance!

Friday, June 21

  8:00am – 11:00am

Pearl Harbor USS Arizona Memorial

Definitely one of the more special times of the whole week. Learn about the bombing of Pearl Harbor and World War II by touring the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor’s Center and then pay your respects when you head over to the actual Memorial by boat.

  1:00pm –  5:00pm

Work Outs

  7:00pm –  9:00pm

Leadership Presentation

We view leadership as a significant attribute to embody. Our special presenter emphasizes the importance of leadership and how you can step up to be a leader on your squad, in your high school, and throughout your life.

Saturday, June 22

  8:00am – 12:00pm

Workouts

This is a long day of workouts. Keep the positive energy up!

  1:30pm –  2:30pm

Hula Practice

Learn first-hand about the Hawaiian culture by being taught a hula by a renowned kumu hula—that’s “hula instructor” in Hawaiian.

  3:00pm –  5:00pm

Workouts

  7:00pm –  9:00pm

Collegiate Coaches Classroom Session

The collegiate head coaches and their assistants are brought in to benefit YOU. They’ll give you great tips for working towards attending college and how to make their collegiate cheer squad. Take full advantage of asking them as many questions you can.

Sunday, June 23

8:00am – 11:00am

Swap Meet at Aloha Stadium

Yesterday was all about working hard; today is all about playing hard. We’ll start off with a trip to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. It is famous for its abundance of Hawaiian gear and souvenirs. This is the shopping experience. Most vendors accept credit cards. There are ATMs located around the stadium if you need cash.

1:00pm –  7:00pm

BBQ @ Pipeline Beach (Ehukai Beach on North Shore)

After a quick turnaround at the dorms to drop off your purchased goods, we’ll get right back onto the bus to travel to the North Shore. Ehukai Beach (or Pipeline Beach) is one of the most famous surfing spots in the world. The waves don’t get as large compared to the surfing season, so don’t worry about the waves crashing too hard. Enjoy the sun, waves, and a delicious Hawaiian-style BBQ. Family and friends can purchase a ticket to join the BBQ festivities. This can be paid online anytime, or by check or cash during camp.

Monday, June 24

  8:00am – 11:00am

Workouts

Finish cleaning up the cheers, dances, and stunts for the Showcase.

1:00pm –  9:00pm

Polynesian Cultural Center, Buffet and Night Show

The Polynesian Cultural Center has been described as the “Hawaiian Disneyland.” You’ll tour the Center by visiting the 8 different islands of Polynesia—Hawai’i, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Marshall Islands, Marquesas, Fiji, and Tahiti. Watch shows, play games, or view exhibits of each island and their people. For more information about the Center, visit www.polynesia.com.

It’s usually hot and humid so we encourage you to wear light clothing, such as a sun dress. After walking through the Center throughout the day, we’ll get back together for a Hawaiian luau. This is a great experience for family and friends, too. The last part of the agenda is the night show called “Ha: Breath of Life” that showcases all of the cultures in one Broadway-like show.

Tuesday, June 25

8:30am -11:00am

Review, Pictures

Wear your high school’s cheer uniform today. We’ll take a big 2024 camp picture, which is included in your tuition. They will be ready to be picked up before you fly out on Wednesday.

2:00pm – 4:00pm

Showcase

We encourage camaraderie, rather than competition, as each team takes their performance to the mat. We don’t give out a spirit stick or award for the best team, but we love to see our CheerHawaii Ohana (family) in action! All family and friends are encouraged to join us.

7:00pm – 9:00pm

Waikiki Trolley Ride

Tour the sights of Waikiki by trolley! We always have a great time seeing Waikiki by night and all of the people walking the Waikiki strip. This is the only event that is strictly limited to CheerHawaii participants.
